Sunnyslope is partnering with Salem Free Clinics to provide free medical care for the more than 60,000 uninsured adults in Marion and Polk Counties. The clinic takes place on the second Saturday of every month, at the Trinity Covenant Church (at the corner of Liberty & Boone). Volunteers are needed to help with setup, take down, and everything in between. Volunteers are needed both with and without medical training.
Sunnyslope has also partnered with By Grace Alone Church in Philadelphia, PA to learn and minister in our respective communities. Together, we’ve learned about serving in our different contexts, and we’ve built friendships that span the country.
Since our members represent 17 communities throughout the Willamette Valley, Sunnyslope also encourages her members to find ways to serve in the communities in which they live, and in the greater Salem community. Our members are involved in a wide variety of community ministry including: volunteers with Habitat for Humanity, running a halfway house for recovering addicts, rehabilitating and maintaining a neighborhood park that had been neglected by the County, visiting senior citizens in their homes, and conducting prison ministry.
Our Wednesday at the Park Ministry is a way we care for the local community. Each Wednesday during the month of July, we serve cookies and juice at nearby Wendy Kroger Park. We also play lawn games with kids of all ages.
